Bonafide Orthopaedic Nursing Education Symposium (BONES) is for all healthcare providers (RN, LVN, NA, OT, PT, MSW, Ortho Techs, Students and Case Managers) working with or interested in care of orthopaedic patients. It is the only event of its type in the San Diego region. It has been growing each year and we are anticipating over 250 attendees in 2012. This full-day fun-filled educational event includes speaker and poster presentations as well as hands on exhibits from the region’s hospitals and vendors. The attendees expand their knowledge of prevention and care of orthopaedic and traumatic injuries in an energized atmosphere. The day is organized by nurses from the Orthopaedic Units at both of UCSD’s Medical Centers and won the distinction by ADVANCE for Nurses Magazine: Best Nursing Team of the Year 2008. This event is held in conjunction with International Orthopedic Nurses Day on Friday, October 26th 2012. The symposium has been designed to provide the latest cutting-edge information to Nursing and Allied Health practitioners.
This year will feature a recognized keynote speaker, Dr. Richard Levak, a nationally recognized personality expert. Dr. Levak has been in private practice for over thirty years. He is a consultant to reality television programs, and has worked on Survivor, Big Brother, Amazing Race, and The Apprentice to assist producers in assembling casts that capture America's interest. He also serves as an expert witness in forensic cases and has a growing practice in organizational consulting.
